Our general safety rules are enforced by our trained referee staff on and off the field. If at anytime during your visit you observe any potentially dangerous activities, or hazards, please inform any staff member so that we can take swift action to remedy. Fields are checked daily before play for hazards.
Masks and Safety Equipment
- All players are required to wear ASTM certified face masks designed for use in Paintball that cover the players face and ears on all playing fields and the target range at ALL times, even when no game is being played.
- Masks must be inspected for safety by our staff before entering any playing fields. Please note, Airsoft Masks are not approved for use in Paintball. Additionally we have seen a rise in un-certified masks being advertised online as paintball masks, due to the unsafe nature of these items, we advise all players to only purchase paintball masks from a reputable source that specializes in paintball.
- All Players are required to use a barrel cover or barrel plugs designed for paintball when not on the playing field, regardless of if the paintball marker is loaded or not.
Markers
- Paintball Markers may only fire paintballs at speeds of 285 Feet Per Second or lower. Markers used in open play groups may only fire in semi-fire modes.
- Full-Auto and Burst are NOT allowed in open play groups.
- Home-made paintball markers, and paintball markers that do not fire standard .68 caliber paintballs are not allowed to be used in open play groups.
Paintballs
Jacksonville Xtreme Sports is a FIELD PAINT ONLY facility. No outside paintballs may be used on site. Paintballs purchased at Jacksonville Xtreme Sports on a previous visit may be used, but must be checked for safety by the staff prior to use.
Air Tanks
- All Department of Transportation, and PHMSA regulations and laws are followed. Tanks that do not have a current hydrostatic qualification are not allowed to be filled. All air tanks must be visually inspected before filling, by one of our Hazmat trained staff members. We are required to refuse any air tank with damage, or probable damage, including tanks with non-removable covers that prevent a proper visual inspection including but not limited to: stickers, athletic tape, thick paint or plasti-dip or bed-liner style coating.
Referees
- All games are supervised by our trained referees, no player may enter a field without a referee.
- Referees are there to ensure safe, fun, and fair play. All Referee rulings are final on the field, if a situation arises, please speak to our counter staff. Players and/or spectators arguing with a referee on the field is grounds for ejection from the facility.
General Safety Rules
- Players may not "blind-fire" markers. Blind-firing is firing the paintball marker without being able to see where the paintballs are going. Players must be able to see where paintballs are going to prevent over shooting of other players, referees, and to avoid shooting out of bounds.
- Absolutely no shooting animals or wildlife. Players who fire at animals, including but no limited to birds, rabbits, squirrels, cats, dogs, etc, will be ejected from the facility without refund.
- Surrender Rule:
- Players within 20 feet of another player are asked to offer a surrender, surrenders are NOT mandatory.
- No Climbing Trees or Bunkers
- Stairs must be used for elevated platforms, if stairs are not present, the structure may not be climbed.
- Cleats may not be worn on elevated platforms
- Eliminations:
- A "hit" is defined as a paintball that hits you, or anything you are carrying, or wearing, except for Markers (inclusive of hoppers and tanks)
- Marker hits do not count as a "hit" in open play. if a paintball hits your marker, you may continue to play on.
- Players who have been 'hit' should announce loudly "hit" or "out", Raise their Marker over their heads before leaving cover.
- Eliminated players should walk to the designated boundaries, or off the field. Masks must still be worn by eliminated players until a barrel cover has been secured, and the player has left the playing field.
- Players may call for a "Paint Check" on themselves or other players. Players are considered live during a paint check.
- "Dead Men Tell No Tales"
- When eliminated, players may not communicate with live players on the field, including, but not limited to signaling, speaking, using radios, etc.
- Cease-Fire
- Cease-Fire is used for any unexpected situation where Referees must stop games before time runs out.
- Cease-Fire may only be called by Field employees. If "Cease-Fire" is heard, all players must immediately stop firing, and place markers on the ground. Players should not leave their current location on the field, and keep masks on. Referees will give further instructions for any Cease-Fire situation.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy:
- Jacksonville Xtreme Sports does not allow the consumption of Alcohol or illegal drugs by participants.
